About Jessee

"Hi everyone! My name is Jessee Province and I've been horse-crazy for a long time, about 23 years. Horses, training horses, and teaching people to train their horses is my passion.

Like most of you I started with horses blissfully ignorant of what it took to be good with horses. And even though I learned the common traditional ways of working with horses, I found over time those ways were not always the best ways. Fortunately, I found natural horsemanship in the early 1990s. I quickly realized the immense value of this method of horsemanship and I've been studying it intensely every since.

When I decided I finally had enough understanding of natural horsemanship to have something to offer others, I began teaching. My teaching has blossomed into private lessons, clinics, educational demonstrations, and training. To me, natural horsemanship is a lifelong study. I continue to work to improve my own horsemanship and to have more to share with students.

I hope to meet you in the future and get to know you and your horses. Until then... Happy Horsing Around!"

My Training Approach

  • I use natural horsemanship with additional positive reinforcement techniques
  • safety always comes first
  • I like to train the horse from the inside out - this means I address the horse's mental and emotional states first, then the physical tasks second
  • empowering the student with knowledge and skill so they can be successful with their horses on their own
  • build confidence in the horse and student
My Teaching Approach

  • to teach the student to read their horse, understand horse psychology and how to use it
  • to teach effective techniques to use from the ground and saddle
  • to use interactive learning sessions
  • to teach with patience, communication, and fun
  • I assign students homework to help them with follow through
  • I like to go at the learning speed that the horse and student are comfortable with for optimal learning
"Your mind is your strongest asset when working with horses. You have the power to set the tone, choose the course of action, evaluate how things are going, reinforce behaviors, and modify or completely change your tactics. Your powers of observation and reason allow you to find a way to meet your goals while respecting your horse."   excerpt from How to Think Like a Horse by Cherry Hill
